Preface

Spring! Finally!

Our favorite season has arrived, fresh green colors in most parts of the Northern hemisphere transform nature and parks in pieces of art. The blooming of nature each time after the Winter is a spectacle by no means to be sneezed at. It brings hope and you notice it immediately on people. In the streets, in shops, just around you, in your favorite club or even at work. When you are honest with yourselves you see it even in your mirror, yes we too are changing when new fresh green leafs are blooming. The young animal awakes in us, each springtime again, as a playful foal in the meadow, and that’s good for sure!

Will the economy also revive happy as a young foal in the meadow ? I’m afraid that I can’t show the same optimism. We’re floating away economically. That’s logical, the Western economy is based on the fact that profits go to the rich and debts to the State. When Forbes announced at the beginning of March the top of Dollar multimillionaires , it strikes me how much richer the wealthy citizens of our planet have become, most of them have just doubled their capital in a couple of years. It’s not their fault of course, they’ve previously laid the foundation for it, it’s just owing to the system. On the other hand poverty is expanding too.

This uncertainty appears to bring along a huge potential for our sector. Inflation is high, the ECB is stamping a great deal of money in order that the monetary crisis will not turn out into a great depression. Apparently black Thursday and the depression of the Thirties are still in our mind. Consequently a massive inflation can’t be turned away. Nowadays money on the bank costs more than it yields . In other words interest rates are lower that the inflation. Many people wish therefore to invest their money in something concrete and let our oldtimers just be the hit of these new technologies. Prices of top cars are rising to unknown heights throughout the world. When the top of the mountain is rising, the base will inevitably become wider and just right there we are with our Volkswagen story at the flank of the economical mountain. We all can only become better from it.

Being a wholesale company we are ready to assist our distributors. Our stock is bigger than ever and our logistics are sharp. We’re prepared for the new season and we’re looking forward to work at full speed. Now we’ve got used to our new infrastructure we can pick quicker, pack better, deliver more, we’re just ready to encounter this beautiful season together with our customers.

My Spring greetings are to wish you all, customers, suppliers, friends and sympathizers that all your dreams come true, happy as a foal in the meadow and if possible even a bit more….

Summertime! Finally, all  convertibles are ready to go. Ladies and Gentlemen start the engines! Each week there are some nice meetings. Volunteers are giving the best of themselves for hours, days, weeks and even months and organize meetings in our beloved hobby world. We already have attended to a couple of them!

Economically the second  elections in Greece are over. After the angry first round of ‘protest’ elections, it seems that even the Greek realize that leaving the Euro zone would be a bad thing to do, not only for them, but for all Europe and to put in mildly a shock for the whole world. It’s unbelievable how a small European community can put such a pressure on all the rest.

Let’s compare with the USA. There Greece would be the size of a city something like Detroit. In Detroit life is not a bed of roses neither. Vacancy, unemployment, poverty, crimes, just name it, it’s very bad… but we hardly hear anything of it. The reason? In the United States there is one government with one state of mind, all going in the same direction, something that we are missing in Europe. With us everyone has a vote, each country, each community. No penalties are imposed when budgets are not complied with for instance (except from the expensive interest rate for loans from the European Central Bank). It makes a good economic policy very difficult. Should we have tomorrow a Central government in Europe for economic affairs with the necessary authorities, everything would look different at once!

In fact it’s easy to say  that it will be that or the end of the Euro sooner or later. Certainly when countries such as Spain and Italy are getting in the spot lights. They have great problems to finance their national debts. To speed up  the economic progress and to turn the crisis throughout the world, we must attend to this European government at once, so that we can get again on the right course. Even if it is  at the expense of a part of the sovereignty of the member states. 

After all we must think ‘European’, not as a small country, except for social and cultural matters. People should not be afraid, we were never so well off!

Good life automatically translates itself in leisure time and hobby. Never before so much money has been spent on hobbies and leisure. Our Volkswagen hobby definitely is a good example! And isn’t this pleasant? We enjoy it of course and we try to pass this pleasure into our working mind on the pretext of good, better, best!

The offer of meetings and gatherings confirm this story in the whole world, in fact it’s just too good to be true. We must all dare to enjoy life. And that’s exactly what we are going to do this summer, enjoying the weekends with our Volkswagens, and working hard during the week to give a maximum opportunity to as many people as possible to equalize this feeling the next weekend…

Let’s build together on this Volkswagen legend, a story that is really too good to be true, but that has been made in all sincerity by you and me! Life can be beautiful!

Preface

Before you know and realize, the summer is already gone! Incredible, each year time flies by faster and faster…

The first part of the summer was really bad in Western Europe, we had to wait until August for the first nice summer days, but we’ve got them and how! Sizzling hot, no air to cool our air coolers down! But even these warm days went by  and we are now heading into the direction of autumn, a season to reflect on and to find a new course !

That’s what BBT is going to do.  We’ve encountered some stock and infill problems during September.  Instead  of accepting them, we’re going to fight by all means.  After a serious meeting with all personnel involved with our stock figures, we’ve plenty of ideas that we are going to execute….customers may not by the victim of long delivery times or expensive manufacturing processes… so next year one and another will change! Customer and service stand at the first place!

The world economy is falling out of the frying-pan into the fire. The economy in the Western world is steadily collapsing  into the swamp of incertitude. Today I read an article that even the American Central Bank has no indications why the American economy is doing so badly….. so many academics and no solutions… of course you can’t keep growing.  And our economic system can only pay off when it grows. End of the story ? The future will tell… According to me the crisis is a matter between banks and governments. In Western Europe anyway. The working man, who’s really willing to work doesn’t experience any troubles…but you must have the will to work, 90.000 unemployed people in  Flanders, but our vacancy for a warehouseman doesn’t get filled in!

Let’s continue together in our Volkswagen world, it turns well and everybody is satisfied, at least if we get our infill again up to the mark… growing pains! We are working at it!
