B.B.T.
was founded by Bob in the autumn of 1986. His first shop was 20 square
metres and his first stock contained 3 boxes from California, delivered
by a truck on the lawn of Bob’s parents’ garden. So, pure hobby.
When customers came a few weeks later, speaking another language than
Bob’s native tongue, he realised this was serious business. After
a year a warehouse of 40 square metres from the neighbour has been added
even after the attic of his parents house and the garage of his father’s
car were already taken by Bob!
Two years later, Bob moved to an old pigs farm where he, by magic, transformed
it all into a shop, work premises and warehouses with a big parking-place
near the E 19 motorway Antwerp-Breda
(The Netherlands). The story continues, BBT went on growing, several years
even more than a 100%. Too small warehouses gave growing-pains and after
4 years of farm history, our present-day building was raised in Sint-Job-in-'t-Goor.
After opening our machine-shop in 1997, our building is becoming too small
again and an extension is again forced.
At present, B.B.T. is a company with limited liability,
still managed by Bob and Arlette.
With a range of products, only dedicated to air-cooled Volkswagen enthusiasts,
BBT is one of the biggest in the world. A very extensive selection at
an almost perfect ratio of price and quality are surely the cradle. With
customers and suppliers from Tokyo to Los Angeles, B.B.T. delivers around
the world. By visiting customers and suppliers, and by participating meetings
all around the world, the company philosophy and driving-force stay upright
without any problem: to help the Volkswagen enthusiast to find their wanted
parts and this in the best price/quality range.
Untill today Bob is still as enthusiastic about the beetle as before.
But his passion goes further than only that, he is now also the proud
owner of an eccentric collection "split" radios among other
things a few Telefunken, Blaupunkten, Beckers etc.... When Bob is not
listening to the radio, you will probably find him in one of his cars,
being part of his private collection like a '43 schwimmwagen, a '56 Rometsch
Beeskov coupé, a '61 Rometsch convertible with sunroof, 2 x '51 cabrio,
a '51 sedan, a '53 zwitter ragtop, a '51 limobus, 2 x '51 Tempo Matador,
'65 Rutmann Steigerwagen etc.
